FLASH: We are taking a break this summer, 2011-please see CONTACT US page for more information.

We have been rescuing boxers for almost 17 years now! Our present staff is made up of dedicated volunteers - some work, some are retired.  Our dogs come from many sources - strays turned in by kind citizens, dogs from our shelters that are in danger of being euthanized, dogs from neighboring smaller towns with low adoption rates, who come to us because there are not enough homes in their towns for them all.  Many times owners must give their dogs up due to divorce, moving into apartments where dogs are not allowed, being transferred.  Sadly, in the last couple of years some of our dogs have been left  behind when their families moved out, alone and scared in a deserted backyard.  They are confused and frightened, and so very grateful when someone finds them! We have taken in dogs requiring surgery for eye issues, leg amputations, and needing surgery for dislocated hips, or with parvo, as well as deaf dogs looking for that special home.

We have each dog spayed or neutered, get their shots, and microchip them.  If the records from an owner are not current, we make certain they are checked by a vet and their shots are current. If a dog is thin, coughs or otherwise seems not quite healthy, we will also have a vet do a valley fever test and a tick fever test.  If the dog requires medication, the remainder is sent along with the new owner when the adoption is final.

We ask that the prospective owner fill out the adoption application as completely as possible, then we phone to go over any questions.  This is followed by a home visit at a mutually agreeable time.  Following the home visit, the prospective owner is introduced to the dog.  There may be more than one that would be a good fit for your home, and in that case you are welcome to meet as many as seem suitable. We request a follow-up phone call several days after the adoption,  or we will call you, to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Our goal is to have a happy dog, in a permanent forever home!

We are a non-profit corporation, and your donations are sorely needed to help us help the boxers! Thank you for considering a grateful rescue boxer!
